Hi - I had a maor crash on my pc recently and compter technician installed Avast 4. I am unable to access any multiplayer games - (playsite) unless I disable the Avast. How do I change my settings to allow these games but to keep the Avast enabled.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have given myself a headache trying to fix this!!!

Mahree,
If you have installed (or the technicain) Avast version 4.6.623, then it probably is the Web shield...a new feature of Avast. You can open up the On Access Protection console by right clicking on the A ball in the tray. Then locate the Web Shield module listed in the left column and click on it (if it isnt highlighted already). Find Customize and click on it. Look for the Exceptions tab and open it.
Add the site you want to access to the URL listings. Avast will not scan or prevent access to those sites.
See if this helps.

What is your avast version (see about avast, right click the avast icon in the system tray) OS, browser and firewall?
Does your firewall allow ashWebSv.exe access to the internet?
Click (left) on the avast icon and you should see a window with a list of on-access providers, click on the one called Web Shield if you have it. Then you should be able to do what Techie101 suggested.
