Is ADWcleaner really that reliable?
« on: April 22, 2013, 10:12:51 AM »
After I scanned with it, my Chinese language input from Tencent got corrupted so I had to reinstall, and I think my Qihoo mini app shortcut got deleted. I don't know why. Does ADWcleaner consider it as adware or is there malware (I just download P2P bittorrent sorreh D: )

A keylogger detection is possible here that came via the shared hosting. Malicious apps may corrupt your system's configuration, as Tencent points out.
Stay away from torrenting and P2P as it means a royal way of malcode into your devices and software...
ADWcleaner is not to blame here, but insecure practices...

So ADWcleaner didn't delete my Tencent language input? I don't believe so. Because it was fine and after I scanned my computer with ADWcleaner and MBAM, it started working abnormally. ADWcleaner may have taken it as adware and deleted it. Besides that, my icon is back after a restart (sorry for the mistake) but my disk space shot up by a few gb just now although I didn't add or remove anything, very weird...

To add on, I torrented while my language input was already faulty, so I believe it is not the cause. However, my disk space shot up after my torrenting. It could be the cause

But my computer isn't behaving abnormally right now  :) So I probably should halt the scans for the moment. Unless the keylog or whatever virus has been in my computer for longer than I thought  ;) Shouldn't be the case though, I run scans on my Qihoo regularly, quick scans on avast! for emergencies and MBAM probably once every 2 months  ;D
