aolcinst.exe Detection
« on: April 21, 2013, 06:17:15 PM »
Since about 3 or 4 weeks ago, avast had detected aolcinst.exe as Win32:Adware-gen[Adw]
The original location was:  C:\Program Files\Common Files\aolback
At the time, I let avast move it to the Virus Chest.

The day before yesterday I performed a Windows Reinstall to finally try to fix the intermittent Boot Up problem on this computer.  That did not fix the intermittent Boot Up problem, but that's beside the point.

Anyway, this morning I performed an avast Scan and again it detected that aolcinst.exe as Win32:Adware-gen[Adw] with a Severity of High.  The thing is, that File obviously comes straight from the AOL Install CD as the computer is fresh from a Windows Reinstall.

I see that apparently I can send that File from the Virus Chest to the avast Virus Lab.
Will it allow me to explain the situation there or will it just send the File immediately?
