Avast Free v8.0.1483 on a Compaq Windows 7 notebook: After the installing the 4/9/2013 Microsoft Patch Tuesday updates my email client was no longer able to retrieve or send email. However, everything continued to work correctly on my Windows XP Pro desktop and my Windows XP Home Edition netbook (both using the Avast Free Version 8.0.1483 and the 4/9/2013 MS patch Tuesday updates for XP).

4/18/2013 after I uninstalled v8.0.1483 the email client correctly pings all the POP3 email servers (both regular and SSL) and the SMTP servers. (Note: I use an old java email client).

4/18/2013 I reinstalled (clean install) v8.0.1483 to the Win7 notebook and the problem returns (blocking the email client from the email servers).

4/19/2013 I again uninstalled v8.0.1483 and the email client now works correctly again.

4/19/2013 I installed Avast Version 7.0.1466 and the email client still works correctly.

I originally thought that this was just a Microsoft Patch Tuesday update problem, but now I think it is a problem/conflict with Avast v8.0.1483 and one or more of the 4/9/2013 Microsoft updates.  I have used Avast for more that 5 years. Is there a fix I haven’t spotted on the forum (other than rolling back to 7.0.1466)?
