Strange behavior in Office Update! [not avast related]
« on: March 21, 2005, 05:47:53 PM »
Hi guys

I just tried an Office update and took a strange message: " Office Update doesn't  support Office for Mac "

I am a P4 user with Wintows XP Home SP2, Office XP, Netveda Safe.Net 3.60 and Avast 4.6.623.

Is there any idea?

I tried with search engine for something similar but find nothing.

Thank's.

Did you run the autodetect application or did you download a standalone update and run it?

Yes, i run the autodetect application as usually.

After that, I run Edigo scanner and cathed 2 Spyware tracking - cookies.
The first was cleaned automatically, but the second remain because an "error during cleaning".

I suggest:
Close your browser.
Go to Control Panel > Internet options > Delete files > Click delete all offline content (just to be sure) > click ok.

Can you try to see if you get rid of it?
After boot, will the cookie appear again?

Can you run a full avast scanning (archives enabled)?

I just finished a full Avast scanning. None infected file.

The problem was due to firewall's settings.  Some web sites misiterpret the lack of browser information.

With unselected the 'Hide user identifiable information in browser requests' option under Content security, the Office Ubdate and some other websites work fine again.

Thank's a lot for your Help!
