mantra: yes, it's possibly because you renamed the files. The updater is trying to "rectify the problem", you know... As I stated previously, renaming these files is probably not the best way to stop using the providers... (see previous discussions about this).

dave: that's fine. The drivers should be 4.1.267. Build 268 was just a refresh with virtually no changes, designed to be released "out"...

Thanks for the good news.

Hope this heps,
Vlk

That almost for sure. Check setup.log in setup directory. It should tell you why did it ask for reboot.

Avast installer forces all files to be correct. If some of them get broken (or deleted), installer replaces them on next 'repair/refresh' operation. It's unlikely this behaviour will change.

Hi, it works fine for me, except the couple of hours when it was impossible to reach the updating server (http error).
By the way, what is the interest of P2P provider, isn't the standard shield analysing the incoming and outgoing files, and why is it dedicated to certain programs and last, why common programs like Emule and its declinaison (Overnet, Edonkey,...) are forgotten from the list.
Regards.

Well, kind of. The thing is, setting the Standard Shield to scan all files from all programs would pose a great overhead that's probably inacceptable on most systems. Therefore, we decided to add special support for selected applications that usually are the most common sources of infection... Pretty simple but still very efficient, I'd say...

Also, it's a great marketing feature, don't you think..? :)

We don't know these programs. The ones currently supported are those that are either most popular or those that we use. If you have any suggestions, just give them to us...

I can only back the previous suggestion to support other P2P programs like eDonkey/eMule that are very common: feel free to have a look at http://www.edonkey2000.com/ !

Win 98SE Avast Home Edition
P2P SHIELD, INTERNET MAIL, STANDARD SHIELD RUNNING.
Freecell will only show 1 row of cards when a New Game is selected.

After shutting frrecell down, Stopping Standard Shield, freecell runs properly.

That's a good enough fix for my purposes. ( I don't play Freecell that often)

I noticed that not a lot of your respondents told you what OS they were even running.

The same happens to me this morning (23 September) and I do not rename any file to disable the providers (I just thought, in another forum, that will be a good idea of mantra)  :'(
