Avast has stopped working. Hoe do I solve this

Today I had to do a System Restore on my computer because of some trouble with a program. I have done that some years ago without problem.But this time, Avast Pro version stopped functioning. It says that my subscription has ended. But I bought a new license for three years in November last years which is also confirmed by my personal settings. I can't activate the license either and now my computer has been unprotected for three hours. What can I do?

avast does not like system restore..... when doing that you need to turn off avast selfprotection first

so now you need to reinstall. remove with this  http://www.avast.com/en-no/uninstall-utility
then download and install   http://www.avast.com/en-no/download-software

Thanks! I've solved the problem by uninstalling Avast, then re-installing it. Now it works fine again, except for the facts that my sound files are gone. How do I restore them to Avast 8. It seems a bit different from the previous versions. Note that when the program was updated to Avast 8 some time ago, my sound files remained but now they are gone. How do I get them back?
