Paypal Blaming Avast!

My name is Angala with PayPal Customer Support. We spoke earlier today regarding the error/warning message that you were receiving with logging into PayPal.

Our Technical Support Department and Fraud Department are aware of the error and do not feel it is on PayPal’s end and appears to be specific to the Avast anti-virus program. If you are using Avast you will need to either check your computer for viruses or contact Avast . If you do not have Avast and are using another anti-virus program please let us know.

Sincerely,
Angala

I had to run a boot scan and ended up with 5 virus' :(  NOT an Avast issue.

Just had the same problem on two computers running avast. I've got avast and spybot running on one, avast flagged up a warning and spybot detected a registry change and stopped it. This was only upon logging into paypal.com. Hopefully I didn't get the virus but I'm worried now.

I am having the same problem.
I ran a Quick scan and it came up with 5 lines with websr[1].htm
I then allowed it to run a boot scan and this came up clean.
Also did a scan with Windows Defender and with Spybot S&D. Both came up clean

I've also got this problem but I assumed that this was a FP as I've got some old Paypal webpages saved on my PC which have never been a problem until today. I think this is more to do with Avast than Paypal as everything on my PC was fine until I did a scan today. I haven't visited the Paypal site but old files have suddenly become infected!
