I'm having PayPal trouble also with this HTML:Banfraud-BBE Trojan.  I do not want to do a boot scan now, as it takes forever, probably will do that tonight.  But Avast was pointing to C://Programs Files (x86) so I did a folder scan on that and Avast found nothing.  Then the other folder mentioned was C:/Users/yourusername/AppData/  So now running a folder scan on AppData, about 35% done and 2 infected files found so far.

I suspected something was on my computer, but Avast failed to flag it - even with a full scan. So did Malwarebytes.

I just did a boot time scan and it has picked up this Bankfraud-BBE [Trj] twice. As it showed as being in the same file others have mentioned.

So far did a full scan twice on Avast, removed 10 bankfraud-bbe problems. Then did a Boot Scan (checking off delate at end of scan) Removed 3 corrupt files. Sent in to advast the files for bankfraud-bbe, says will look at during next update.

Then went to PayPal.com still get Trojan problem, yet my Avast full scan says I have no problems. Talked to a tech friend of mine says if only happening on IE could be a possible plugin added to IE, but he will have to come over next week to check and poss remove.

Just wondering why Avast does not come on the forum and give a possible solution or what the problem really is. Hoping Avast will post something soon so we will have at least some type of solution.

This is very annoying as PayPal sales will slow right down as people who have this problem will be to scared to purchase products.

I got it tonight too, I read all the previous posts and it looks like nothing has been done about this yet, except the guy that found out you could downgrade to IE 8.0 from 9.0.

So it sounds like the issue isn't related to paypal and avast entirely.  It sounds like an issue related to Microsoft's IE Explorer 9.0, Avast, and Paypal.

Since it's Internet Explorer related you could downgrade or just use a different browser. And for the record, I am not getting these messages using Google Chrome, which is an internet browser like Internet Explorer if you didn't know what Google Chrome is.

Eagle Eyes; I'll be very interested to know if you've done any scans after you accessed paypal's main site with google chrome.

My Chrome didn't catch it, but I had a web customer email me about the warning, so I did a boot time scan, and sure as shootin' there was the trojan in the appdata file.

Took it off, tried it in IE, same story. The avast blocked the trojan, I deleted it and went my merry way.

Very Wary of using the Paypal main site until this is cleared up.

I just discovered this tonight during a scan and just deleted it.  Last week, my credit card number that I hardly use got compromised and I'm wondering if this Trojan has anything to do with that.  I'm now running Malwarebytes and it's already detected a few things but it's too early into the scan to see what they are.  I apparently had a few other things from a week ago that I wasn't aware of that I had to delete as well.

After I discovered this, I had my father who lives in the same house as I do a boot scan on his and he had a few things as well to delete.  My sister also had problems in the last few days with emails / etc being hacked.

We always keep up on scans and are very careful about what we get into but this just seems a little strange the past week or so.

Thanks Maillady, I take back what I just said. Looks like I better be careful as well.  The other browsers aren't safe from this than, especially if you found it in it's appdata.

Oops nevermind, looks like I just got compromised.  1 of my buisiness accounts was just drained, I now have fraud alerts on my credit reports and have decided to close the drained account, and freeze everything else.  This sucks.  I hope it gets fixed soon.

Hi,
I found that here : http://www.etsy.com/teams/7718/site-help/discuss/12215910/page/8

"Tinsel de TheTinseledWhisker   dit  Modifié le 27 avril 2013 .

OK, the Avast rep. I spoke with confirmed it is a "false positive," that they are aware of it, and it should be corrected within 24 hours.
She said not to worry about using PayPal.

Posté le 9:12 pm 27 avril 2013 EDT  "

True or not, I don't know. But I think so...

Downgraded to IE 9.0 still have the problem  and then to IE 8.0 and the problem is gone.

Boot time scan with IE 8.0 and deleting IE Temp folder now reports no problem

 >:( When I filed a report about the Bankfraud-BBE Trojan I ranked it as an EMERGENCY.  Here I am over 24 hours later and no response.  I do not take it lightly when I go to the Paypal site, start to log in to my account, and get a virus notice.  Thinking that Avast did it's job, and moved the virus to the vault as it said it did under the action taken, I restarted Paypal and again and get the same notice.  With over 2000 complaints to Avast in this forum you would think they might have sent an Email concerning this virus.  I did not class it as an "Emergency" on my ticket as a joke.  It is pretty sad that an anti-virus company as well known as Avast can't respond not after a full 24 hours.  I hate to see how long they would take if I classed it as a "regular" ticket.  No wait!  I did turn in a ticket like that and it took a week to respond.

I am force to work from home to care for my disabled wife who I buy Insulin and other meds on Craigslist just to keep her alive.  My ONLY source of income is a few hundred dollars a month I make online, and now I can not even access my Paypal account to access it.  I don't know if I can sign in safely to my account or not.  I do not know if someone is using my Paypal account now or not.  I can't change the password without signing in and if I do change the password will this Trojan virus that Avast is failing to remove going to steal my sign-in information.  If call Paypal and freeze my account, my auto-payments will not go through.  I am running Windows 7 Professional and have the newest Avast Internet Security program which I paid a healthy sum of money for...so where is customer service when you need them?  How about it Avast?  Doesn't anyone work on the weekend like most other anti-virus companies?  We need answers now please!

I suspect that it came from the very last Windows automatic update.  When I tried to see the origin of where the "trojan" came from, it seemed to have originated from a recent Windows update.
