I got it sorted. I came across a page on the Mozilla website allowing you to download FFox in your own language and chose Eng-UK as opposed to Eng-US. This allowed me to save the install to my desktop which I couldn't do previously. As a result I could right click and install it as administrator.

I was a bit worried because all my bookmarks in FFox would have been lost. I've now migrated them over to IE as a precaution.
