« on: March 25, 2005, 04:06:55 PM »
keep getting this error.
the avast icon at the botton right of my screen has the little red circle with line in it. I clicked on and the error it gives me is "The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error. I click on what to do in the FAQ. After finishing what to do in the FAQ.  it still doesn't work.
when I start the program gives me another error " the VPS file was destryed. The scan completed with error: # = VPF file was destroyed.
 any help would be great.

RPC error is generally related to other antivirus present or, at least, firewall blocking.

Anyway, RPC error is most likely correct by this procedure:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the pop up window (Repair).

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Also, if you were in the Services control panel and told Windows to stop the Avast service.
