Help, please
« on: March 26, 2005, 11:34:02 PM »
I have Avast 4.6; Windows XP. I have the Sygate firewall & Ad-aware.

Wnen I run the virus scan, it shows a screen of perhaps 100 files that reads "Avast cannot scan these files."  What could be the reason for this, and what should I do??

Other than that, this is the best virus program I've had so far.

Hi,
these are mostly either files which are locked by windows, or password-protected files (e.g. Backup-files of SPYBOT):
both are normal and harmless

try expanding the column title in the avast report afte a scan and voila: it tells you WHY it can't scan these files

you needn't do anything

 ;)

You can delete old recovery files in Spybot S&D and AdAware after a few weeks and no adverse effects on your system. This will also reduce the numbers of files that can't be scanned.
