how can I exclude this from avast without excluding the entire folder?

have you tested the minerd.exe file at virus total.com to see if it realy is a FP ?
if not do so and post link to scan result here

does not look like FP ....and most of them call it risk.tool or PUP
PUP = not a virus / Possible Unwanted Program

Its a bit coin miner (dome devs hide it in apps and make you mine coins for them) but for me I'm using it for my own benifit so how can I get rid of the block without excluding a folder?

never used it.... try search forum for exclude file.... i know DavidR have posted how to several times
