Hello, I hope someone can help me. Also I hope this post helps others who have the same problem with Google Docs and Avast Free.
I have found the solution for this problem but cannot put it to use.
In Firefox(20.0.1) or IE9, I use Google Docs and when I am editing a doc, the "Saving..." and "Trying to connect" messages appear a lot. Like every minute and they sometimes freeze the page.
I turned off Avast Free and it solves the problem of the google doc saving and trying to connect. It instantly saves as it normally does. However, I need Avast ON for protection.
I can go into Avast Settings to the Global Exclusions page and add a URL to exclude that URL from Scanning and from all shield protections. When I add docs.google.com, Avast adds it into the list as "
http://docs.google.com*". That is fine, but I use HTTPS and am not able to edit the URL to "
https://docs.google.com*".
Any help in this is appreciated. I need to use HTTPS.
