Avast has detected some issues
« on: May 18, 2013, 06:08:47 PM »
Just installed Avast Anti-Theft (unrooted) on my HTC One Android device and 2 issues have come up, which are as follows...

1
System settings warning
avast! Anti-Theft is not set as a device administrator of your device. This will limit the wipe capabilities of avast! Anti-Theft and the avast! Anti-Theft protection will not work. It is recommended to enable this setting.

2
System settings warning
Your current Android settings still allow installation of apps from unknown sources. The setting is no longer needed by avast! Anti-Theft, disable it by unchecking the Unknown sources checkbox in your system settings

Before i do anything i want to check whether allowing Avast to rectify these issues will root my handset? I DO NOT WANT MY PHONE ROOTED!

No, it won't.
Btw, avast! can't root your phone.

Thanks, btw it is a HTC One if that makes any difference to your answer? I thought if you did an advanced installation to prevent avast! Anti-Theft being deleted it would root the handset for you?

That's strange because i am pretty sure when i first chose advanced installation it told me that if i go head my handset would be rooted, which is why i didn't opt for an advanced install.
