process killed directly after starting
« on: June 05, 2013, 02:01:14 AM »
Hey,

I just tried the avast4workstation on 2 debian wheezy servers.
On the one it worked fine with everything.

But on the other one it just says 'Killed'
No logs to look up, nothing to get a clue out of.

It is an AMD64bit system so I installed the DEB with forced architecture
after that, I set SHM higher

kernel.shmmax = 128000000
kernel.shmall = 2097152
kernel.shmmni = 4096

so it should fit right.
The first time I started avast then it started properly. I entered the license and updated virus defs.
After this I wanted to start a scan but shell just prompted: Killed

Everything I tried after this process it only keeps prompting 'Killed'
dpkg remove and reinstall without forcing, did not change anything
even after completly reinstalling with or without forcing it even starts to enter the key, only keep prompting 'killed'.

As I said, no logs and nothing to get a clue out of....
Do anyone got an idea what I can try?
Need some additional Info?

I really hope to get some help here, because I'm really struggled atm....

Xenophore, what Partition were you trying to Scan ?

The / Partition will basically reject being scanned as avast4workstation does not run with root priviledges.

Basically,  "/Home/ user/"  using avast4workstation is what it was designed, many moons ago.  :D

Oh, god damnit.... Then I was horribly blind not finding the right version :D

Well then I'm wonderin why the workstation version is perfectly running on my other machine... even with the / partition :D

Okay... then I'll reinstall everything an tryout the avast! 4 Linux Server version. Should work much better....

I'll keep you up, if everything works well.
Thanks for the help so far ;)
