No communication from client

Hi,
I installed AVAST! using ADNM on a laptop running windows XP SP2. After succesfully installing the product, I didn't see any communication between the client and the server. XP firewall is not active, and I can find many errors in the client's log:

Cannot connect Server lookup didn't find any AMS'! socket, WinSock error 0x00000000 has occurred.

So the client is protected, but is not getting policies and updates from the management server.
