So the question stands -- what other malware is Windows Defender blocking?

By the way, your personal opinion as to the merit of a security product is off-topic here.  I am not asking anyone for their views on which anti-virus, anti-spyware, and/or anti-malware product is better than another.
That is what I said to go and Google for yourself ( try googling what is Spyware ), no one here that I know of uses it because it's rubbish, plus this isn't your conspiracy chat site to conjure up all these theories you come up with all the time, Please move on and stop being a pest >:(

As for off topic! you are the one who changed the topic of discussion when you mentioned Defender ( not the topic title is it  ::) )

I assume you are now trying to taunt me in hopes I will use profanity or some other strange language so you can ask a moderator to close this thread.

To move on to your accusation about Windows Defender making this thread off-tpoic -- that is a sad statement.

The topic is about Windows 7 and as Window Defender cannot be uninstalled from Windows 7 and we are told that Avast works on Windows 7 then we assume the Avast works just fine with Windows Defender only inactive, not uninstalled.  THAT IS ON-TOPIC!

So the obvious next step is to define what exactly Windows Defender does in Windows 7.  I put forth a PC World article and you state that is wrong.

But by a careful step-by-step process you now admit that Windows Defender does something more than just block spyware, but when pressed on that you start referring to me as a pest.  That is also a sad statement.  It is uncalled for.  I have not denigrated you.  Why do you wish to denigrate me?  Because you don't like my questions?

And we now have a very interesting situation, do we not?  Can Windows Defender be uninstalled in Windows 8?

Everything has been answered for you, use google for your research.

Time to move on and I'm requesting for this thread to be locked as it's going nowhere and your questions just go on and on and that is not what this forum is for.

Oh my goodness!  Your personal opinion is enough to have a thread locked!?  My goodness!!  That really is sad!!!

Ever thought that maybe you could just stop posting here?  You know, some sort of civil post like:  'I am sorry, but I no longer wish to participate in this discussion.  See you around.'

No, instead you threaten people.  Well, ... I don't know.  So sad is all I can think of right now.

I've also asked that a Moderator put an end to this "Never Ending Story" starring MannyQ.

I see.  Being polite doesn't make any difference.  It only matters that one asks only the right questions.  It only matters that one does not displease the certain special group here.  We do not engage in open conversations here unless it meets with the approval of the special group that also is able to ask for certain actions by a moderator.

Might I be informed of the exact reason why you asked to have the thread locked?

And would it be safe to assume that the opinions expressed to the moderator by the members of your group carry more weight than that of the average member?

And a member of that special group engages in the discussion in this thread and when it doesn't go the way he wishes he then turns around and calls me names and reports the thread as useless.

That is behaviour which most civil folks frown upon.  We shall see if the company does too.

Saying your a pest is not name calling as far as I'm concerned, it's stating a fact of your behaviour as all the answers have been given to you yet you fail to see them or look over them simply to continue your posting/questioning which isn't going anywhere.

Malware probably wasn't the correct term to be used as Defender is Spyware alone.

You can direct your further interrogation style questioning to the windows forum as Windows developed Defender so who better to ask.

I do not believe the moderator here will look kindly upon your behaviour, craigb.  It's appalling.  Now you change a key answer that you provided to me and state that calling me a pest is not name calling becuase it is a fact that I am a pest -- taking your name calling to an even higher level.

No, I don't think the moderator for this company will put up with your type of behaviour and condone it.  That would place this company in a very bad light.

My questions are valid and just because you would rather denigrate a Microsoft product instead of enaging in civil discussion ... Well, I've already stated it before -- very sad.

And you asked two more members of your group to pile on.  Exemplary behaviour by the members of your special group.

No one had to be asked. We're simply saying out loud what we've already done through the
Report to Moderator button.
End of discussion from me.  :'(

An on an on an on an on it goes ::)

As mentioned-you have a Windows question? go to Windows and ask your question as every answer your given leads to another whole thread length discussion and your wasting our time on your interrogation style questioning when there are people with proper issues to be dealt with.

Any other member that states there opinion here or anywhere does so on there own accord, even though you would like to think so there is no group conspiracy and I'm quite sure the Avast team already knows about your pesting style.

End of discussion from me also.
