Video/Images/Email Problem
« on: May 31, 2013, 04:40:09 PM »
Hello everyone!

I have downloaded avast! and currently my PC is running the 130531-0 version.

I cannot view videos on youtube (they freeze or don't even start playing) and also several images in the webpages appear corrupt.

I also cannot open my yahoo emails, it lets me see the inbox but doesn't load the emails after I click it.

I tried with IE, Chrome and Mozilla, all up-to-date.

My PC stats are:
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

AMD Athlon 64 Processor
3500+
2.21 GHz, 1,00 GB RAM

I went through the whole blog but cannot find an answer or solution to my problem...

Please help me with my issue, it is of utmost importance (my studies are related to videography and material available on youtube and also of course I need my email)

Thank you in advance,

Sotos

Welcome to the forum.
The version you quoted is the Virus database update version not the product version.
Right click on the avast! icon in your system tray and select About avast!:

What other security programs are you running??? Which firewall are you using???

I just did a mistake.

I tried to uninstall the program but run aswclear.exe before anything else. So my avast was deleted in safe mode.
I am not using any firewall (I have the nVidia firewall installed but disabled at all times).
I used to have Kaspersky but uninstalled it before installing avast. I have no other security programs.

I downloaded the program again (avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe) from the main site. I noticed that the download status remains stuck when 100% complete and doesn't let me run it until several minutes have passed (I use Chrome). When completed, I tried to run it and it gave me a setup selfextract error 1006 (000003EE) and tells me to download again...

Heeeelp...

Instructions to successfully install avast! can be found at:

Make sure that you totally remove remnants of Kaspersky as outlined in the instructions
under removing third party AV programs.
