I don't really see what everyone's problem with win8 actually is ???

Craig, if you're referring to my post, I've no problem with it, just don't really need it (yet). ;)
I wasn't referring to your post Asyn :)

Speedy for those users who don't want to learn new things then it's quite easy to install a start menu replacement which will boot to desktop and they will never even have to see the modern screen if they choose not to.

I learned how to use win 8,and am an old person.Dont under estimate the capability of older people. In my opinion its the younger generation that is just plain too lazy to take the time to learn something different. Some people dont like change of any kind.I like my Xp, vista and win 8. I use all 3 all the time, switching from one to the other I dont notice much diferance except for speed and thats very minor.
An OLD GUY.

IF my W8 with ClassicShell and it not broken on my new lap
Think positive. It will make all other things much easier. :)
It's very difficult to think positive about something worse than Vista.
I had a Vista which was nothing less than a PITA.
I have a Win7 and I only hope MS will support it for a very long time.

History lesson...
1) XP       Solid
2)Vista    Stunk
3)Win7    Solid
4)Win8    Stunk
5)            Do you see a pattern?  ;D

As one of the Spring Chickens on this forum, I can attest to the fact that there isn't anything wrong with Windows 8
that a little bit of applying oneself to a small learning curve wouldn't cure.
If you don't want to learn, then add a small program and you'll be back to using Windows 7 only better.
It's faster than seven, runs anything that Windows 7 runs and, even runs some programs that Windows 7 never did.
It's more secure than Windows 7.
I'd consider it a Solid OS which I've used for quite some time.
Updating it to version 8.1 will only improve the product. :)

Except for the Start Menu, Win8 is better than Win7 in my computer.
Oh, the backup got worse...

Start Menu is easily fixed and the backup if you use the Windows 7 Backup on Windows 8 is exactly
the same.

The default backup in Windows 8 doesn't create an Image unless you revert back to the Windows 7 Backup.
The procedure is very easy.

You've made a change since the default back up is called File History,
it lets you automatically back up files to a network drive or cable-connected external hard drive every 10 minutes.
It is not and does not create a system image.
In order to create a System image you need to revert back to the Windows 7 Backup.

What I find interesting is; the folks who do not run Win8 and/or have never developed a personal experience with the OS (never used it) but yet are so opinionated against it.
Just interesting that's all ??? :)

It's possible to get to know an Operating System without using it, by reading Windows 7 and Windows 8 forums, and just reading the reviews and news articles written about Windows 8.

I think the people that chose not to use Windows 8 are very informed people, that made the right decision.

What would really be interesting, is to know how many people were forced into using Windows 8 by buying a new computer, and how many actually purchased the operating system from Microsoft.

Most of these "critics" used it in a virtual mode for a few minutes or hrs. and used that experience to form their opinion.
The internet is full of these "reviewers". We also find them on his forum quite often.
Sorry but the post before mine seems to prove my point.
They usually force avast! onto their system without first removing what was protecting them
and then when things don't work well, complain all over the net that avast! isn't worth trying.
I see it daily and have run into these critics in person during my presentation.
Once it's proven to them that the problem isn't avast! but their own inability to follow instructions,
they usually change their attitude and opinion.
There are always those that will never change their opinion and never admit that they made a mistake.
We seem to have quite a few of those on the forum lately...... :(
