Is Avast Message Genuine?
« on: June 06, 2013, 04:36:42 AM »
I received an email advising me that my computer is not getting updates from Avast. I am including a screen shot of the message.
Is this genuine or a scam? Note, when I hover the mouse over any of he links in the message I get some kind of weird url. It doesn't look like Avast.

Hello,
what "weird URL" do you see? To the content of the mail: Do you have latest virus database in avast!?

I received the same message, which seems to come from the Avast domain (email.avast.com). Clickable items refer to the same domain. My virus database reports to be OK, although I don't see the pop-ups regularly (W8 professional). So the question is: is this a hoax or is Avast indeed sending out messages like this???

A few of us had the same email. See other topic titled Emails from Avast.  No idea whether they are genuine or not as the site mentioned was a Czech Avast website.

Hello,
yes we send such email notifications. Do you have more installations registered on same email? Are all of them updated?
