Using Avast as a second line protection.
« on: June 13, 2013, 08:18:13 PM »
Hi,
I want to use avast! as a second line of protection along with Bitdefender. I have uninstalled ALL real time shields and the Secure line VPN( i don't want to use the VPN). So, please could you tell me is there any other elements that i need to uninstall so the both programs work without problems? My idea is to use the real time protection of Bitdefender and the on demand of avast!.  :) :) :)

i would use Malwarebytes as extra scanner
pro version with auto update and protection module is only a one time fee for a lifetime license.   ;)

Yes but don't you think that Avast+ Bitdefender have a much better protection than malwarebytes+ avast?

not if you run antivirus + Malwarebytes pro....then you have two real time protection...

there is a name for the combo you want...Bitdefender/avast = Gdata antivirus .....but they have no free version
so free avast + a onetime fee for MBAM pro license is a good buy....and mayebe the best protection you get

GData uses the avast! A/V engine, so where does bitDefender fit in?

Best Protection is avast! Pro (or Endpoint) + Malwarebytes Pro, no Java, no Flash installed!

Use Google Chrome when needing Java / Flash

most users, this works best and provides best protection!

So i will be more protected with avast and MBAM than avast and Bitdefender? Is Malwarebytes better than Bitdefender? I have used both MBAM and BD and i think Bitdefender is better.

The "TOP" 7, as I call them, are always, usually, in the top 7.  bit Defender,. G Data, and avast! are always in that top 7.

We do more research and development than any other A/V vendor.

We have 3 times more users than any other vendor.

We are best at anti-phishing

We created, and they copy:

Freemium A/V (free for home, full quality product)

Boot-time Scan

Virtualization and AutoSandbox in you A/V

Streaming Updates (NY times rated avast! and Emsisoft as fasting reaction TO NEW THREATS!, by far)

And there is other technology that we are the only people doing it, but I am not allowed at this point in time to give it away, but if your using avast!, you have that technology now

There is MORE than this, that's why I choose avast!

Thanks, Pondus, for the education.

According to that forum, some are NOT happy with that change (made it worse)

I learn something new every day (-:

Usually,

(2) anti-virus programs go to war with each other.

And remove Defender!
