No problem... try changing that value to XML... don't touch anything else, just replace ODBC with XML. Save avast4.ini, exit notepad and, after that, restart your system (it's very important) and see if that helps any... still it would be good to check are those avast! services up and running (see screenshot I posted up there)

Cheers !

No problems at all... when you are ready, just come back and if that doesn't help, I'll try to come up with something else...

Good luck !

Also, you may try this...

- Check is avast! running at all - check your taskmanager, and see if you can find avast! processes in there.

- If it is not up and running, try repairing avast! (control panel - add/remove - avast! - change/repair). Note: You must be connected to the internet while performing avast! repair.

- If it is up and running and you still don't see your icons, give RejZor's AEC (avast! External Control) a try. Search these forums for a link.

- If all of that fails, then uninstall avast! using the uninstall utility from the website, reboot and reinstall it from the scratch.

Cheers !

Edit: Also make sure your icons are not set to auto-hide in the taskbar properties (Windows).

Also, take a look in here:

Another thread with same problem... see if any of those things apply to you...
