Avast installs old Version of vcredist_x86
« on: June 18, 2013, 04:45:16 PM »
Hi,

Why does Avast install Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86 Version: 9.0.30729.4148 even if a newer Version is allready installed (Version 9.0.30729.6161)?

It installs it because the program was built/compiled around that version, not sure why it doesn't look for an already installed newer version but then no program that I know of looks for newer versions either.

Preferably I'd like to see avast use at least the 2010 versions or later as there a lot more stable, several programs I use have progressed to the later version mentioned and are much more trouble free.
