Windowssecurity alerts
« on: June 18, 2013, 11:06:51 PM »
I hope this question doesn't sound to stupid, but I'm not all that computer savey when it comes to security stuff ??? but I've had a "Windows security alert" it says "virus protection avast reports that it is turned off" but when I click the "turn on" button it remains on turned off :o no matter what I do I can't get it to turn on, I can't find anything on my avast stuff about turning it back on, it appears to be working but I could be wrong :-\ can anyone help me to get it sorted please, I'm worried that I'm not fully protected, my avast is all updated and everything and I'm using windows vista.

Thank you in antisipation :-*

Sorry to hear about your issue! Did you do a uninstall and reinstall. Uninstall avast via add/remove. Download and run avast uninstall utility http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility. After that install avast! from here http://www.avast.com/index

Excellent instructions thank you  :). That is what everyone will say to do when we encounter problems such as windows not properly detecting your antivirus program and etc. Your welcome  :). I hope it will work for you.

Just a note regarding security. Windows Vista support is ended my Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?alpha=Vista. You won't get any Microsoft security updates and patches. Better upgrade to windows 7 or 8  :). Security is the main priority  :). I will leave that up to you!
