I partly intend this post as a warning to potential customers: Avast may delete your VPN ID without any reason and uses your credit card number to charge you until the cows come home (or you cancel your credit card). At least this is what's happening to me.

My story....

In January I purchased the Avast VPN client and chose the monthly auto-renewal option. It worked well for 4 months. After my May renewal (which I got the receipt for) my ID suddenly disappeared from Avast and I could no longer logon. When I attempt to connect I get the message "your ID does not exist on the server".

I have spent the past 2-3 weeks calling Avast, opening tickets online and sending them emails, none of which resulted in ANY support whatsoever. Their helpdesk is utterly useless, in fact dumb to the point where they don't even know what an ID and password is and what a customer means by "I can't log in". They qualify to be placeholders but have ZERO skill any IT related area as far as I can tell. They also have ZERO willingness to help.

Anyway, after many unsuccessful attempts to get some useful assistance from them I started turning to them with the request to just delete my account and give me refund for the one month I paid for but got no service. These requests, as well as the previous ones, went unanswered. Avast is not willing/able to assist paying Secureline customers in any shape or form but apparently they still want my money.

I can access my profile online and managed to disable my auto-renewal, however I don't know if that even does anything. I am unable to change the password for my account and unable to have my account renewed or remove my personal information from it.

Warning: Avast may be a bunch of fraud artists so be careful with them!

I am getting ready to cancel the credit card in question.

You might have bought the previous secureline based in witopia, you might consider try out the new secureline which is now embedded in avast! antivirus.

Thanks but I already have Norton AV installed and paying for it. I don't want to install another AV. I guess I'll go without Avast.

Hi,
I think you can go thought the custom installation and disable all the AV features in Avast and enable only secureline feature, this should let you just install the secureline.
You might want to try that if you are still interested in secureline.

I guess the question is: how much does that product cost? Another question: do I trust Avast with this program? They already screwed me once.

Avast have replied to your original topic http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=126781.msg954718 It helps to stick to one topic and not post in multiple areas as this is confusing and doesn't make the help any easier.

Many days later still no solution. So, I got a refund.

Next, I registered again to get another SecureLine account. They took my money. The ID they provided isn't working again. I am getting another refund. I will never touch Avast again as long as I live and I feel free to constantly badmouth this ridiculous non-service product for ever and ever. I have never seen a company so bloody incompetent and so intent on not providing ANYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the money they take. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Warning to everyone out there: do not purchase anything from Avast. They are a fraudulent company, they do not sell a real product.
