What happend when you click on Control Panel?

Let's try again to run Combofix now. It have nice hidden tools for fixing varius malware related damage.

1. Delete old Combofix ( drag & drop into recycle.bin )

2.  Download ComboFix from here and save it to your Desktop.
If you are unsure how ComboFix works please read this guide carefully.
note: ComboFix must be downloaded to your Desktop.

> Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program.
If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.

How to disable avast:

  • Right-click on the avast! icon in the lower right corner of the screen and choose Open Avast! User Interface.
  • In the window that opens on the top right corner, click Settings.
  • In a new window that opens, choose the option Troubleshooting, Uncheck Enable avast! self-defense, and click OK.

  • Right-click on the avast! icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select avast! shield controls .
  • In the menu that appears, choose Disable Permanently. When you are prompted to turn off security, click Yes.
Note: Do not forget to turn on this option after the cleaning.

> Run ComboFix. Click on I Agree!
ComboFix will check if there is a newer version of ComboFix available.
Click Yes if prompted to download.

ComboFix will display DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY ON SOFTWARE.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue.

If Recovery Console is not installed, ComboFix will offer download & installation.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to install Recovery Console.
Note:Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running.
If you see a message like "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion" just restart computer once more.

Attach log reports ( ComboFix.txt) back to topic.

------------------------------------------

Let try to repair you system;

Please download Windows Repair (all in one) from here:

  • Install the program then run.
  • Go to Step 2 and allow it to run Disk check
  • Once that is done then go to Step 3 and allow it to run SFC
  • Go to Step4 and create registry backup and system restore point.

  • On the Start Repairs tab => Click the Start
    - Click on the Select all button and then click on Start
    - Don't use the computer while each scan is in progress!!!

  • Restart may be needed to finish the repair procedure.

something weird happend after i ran system recovery point on Windows Repair :/

I ran first ComboFix and after that I regained access to my Control Panel (it was no longer blank). Then I installed the Windows Repair and ran steps 2 and 3 as instructed. When I ran the System restore point part of step 4 it's like I turned my clock backwards with one day all the changes - downloaded files, installed programms including the combofix log which has been on my computer for less then a day is gone. What should I do?

oh, and again my Control Panel is blank...  :-\ Is it possible for it to hav also undone the changes we made with OTL?

Yes...dude... you haven't create a new restore point. You have run your system in old existsing point ( like back in time into past ), so you have restore your computer to the state when computer was malfunctioning and infected.

Download ComboFix ... again ( ;D ) and re-run it. If it fails to run try several times always with a fresh Combofix.exe copy.

Attach here Combofix.txt log.

Ok here are the results. As for performance... yeah I think it's a bit better or at the very least a bit quieter.

There's something odd though... when I started Mozilla Firefox automaticly opened a google tab beside the other tabs I keep open and now whenever I open new tab instead of showing me shortcuts to the pinned/most used sites it directly redirects to google. Was this supposed to happen?
