I would rather use Emsisoft Emergency Kit (EEK) instead of installing Emsisoft Anti-Malware 8 (EAM) ;)

See my sig carefully Cat otherwise you be eating some cheese.

As on-demand scanner OK, but while scanning disable temporarily  the realtime scanning of av to get no scanning conflicts or false detections.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Listen to Speedy. Download Emsisoft Emergency Kit. Install it on a USB stick and be done with it. Works great and its one of the many arsenal of tools I have.

Spyware Blaster and WinPatrol are not the same thing and rather old school. Spyware Blaster just blocks certain cookies and is not an actually "on demand" scanner. WinPatrol I find no use for.

More rubbish and unfounded statements, SpywareBlaster is more useful on XP though and probably not needed on later versions of windows, WinPatrol is basically a Hips program with many more monitoring features and the ability to check whether unknown processes are legitimate and giving the ability to stop and remove them ( one of the best programs around imo )
