Hello bob,

to solve the problem with the updates:

1.Disable Self-Protection under Settings->Troubleshooting
2.Replace the servers.def file under C:\Programms\AVAST Software\Avast\Setup with the file here: http://forum.avadas.de/attachment.php?attachmentid=1408&d=1374880621
3.Reenable the Self-Protection
4.Update the Database

They used the wrong Server list to create the Beta.

Thanks but the site is in german which isn't a problem. It's asking for user name and password which is.

Thanks Steve for making me aware of the problem and thank you TerraX for forwarding the file to me.
VPS is now up to date and the auto updates are working.
Hopefully the next build will fix this problem.  :)

You can install the latest beta, then install 492 over the top, cures the update issue, when finally released you will need a uninstall/reinstall.

I have tried the links provided and the website links.  I am not able to install Avast free for my Windows 8.1.  Is there a solution to this problem? I also tried going to "properties" and using Windows 7 and 8 compatibility option.

I hope it gets updated soon.  I should have waited too.  I was downloading the Marvel Heroes game when Windows Defender found a Trojan.js.buttor and quarantined it.

Answered in your other post.
Please do not post the same question in multiple threads. It only makes support more difficult.

I tried to download the Avast Free software from the link provided in this thread above however it would not start. It tells me that it will take over 12 hours using my Ultra high speed network? I tried a second time the next day and same issue. Can someone check the links for me or supply me with a new link?
