Settings/Virus Alerts
« on: July 08, 2013, 02:52:22 PM »
Where in the Avast Premier 8.0 user manual does it explain exactly how to setup email alerts?
I find the SMTP input box, Server Address a bit confusing?
Is this the Inbox address?
When I fill in what is required and press Test, I don't know if an email was sent, attempted to be sent, denied..blah, blah, blah.
There are no messages

Thanks,
Robert

You have to check with your mail provider...
Like Gmail....then it is    smtp.gmail.com

Hi Robert.

I guess. It is a thing of luck. There are members who report success with Virus Alert and others can not make it work.

There is nothing in the manual, or at least I could not find it either, but if you open Avast! and go to SUPPORT, in Program Help > Open help > under Program Settings. You will find some information to set it up.

This is mine under Avast! Free for Yahoo mail. See image below
This is what you get in your mail. See image below

These are the ports avast! uses for mail:

SMTP 25, 587
POP 110
IMAP 143
NNTP 119

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I've setup a yahoo email and will be testing that.

My regular goes through GoDaddy's servers.
