Windows 8 Fast Start-up

I recently installed Windows 8 on a computer that previously ran Windows 7 and occasionally when I shut down the computer it seems like Windows shuts down but the power is just left running on the computer until I have to just turn it off manually via the power switch. I think this might have something to do with the fast start-up power option in Windows 8 as I never had this problem in Windows 7. Has anyone heard of or had this problem?

I've had this a few times on my laptop. Since it's a very infrequent occurrence, I simply shut down manually like you.
