turned off email checking, stills asks about infected attachments
« on: September 24, 2003, 07:06:32 PM »
Using free version on Windows XP. Since I started getting hit with the Swen virus I found that Avast asks me about each infected email and there's no way in the free version to setup an automatic delection.

So I turned off scanning of incoming email figuring that the resident scan should catch any infected attachment if and when I try to run it. But now I get a different popup about a suspicious file for each infected attachment. Why? And can this notification be turned off in the free version?

Hi,
- automatic actions/deletion is imho only possible in the avast-pro-version
- if you check emails by the resident shield, be sure not to accidently delete your whole inbox !!

- what email-programm do you use, and in what files
exactly does avast detect a virus when downloading/viewing infected mails ?

I'm using Mozilla 1.4 for mail. It's detecting the virus attachment, usually (maybe always) because the extension is wrong somehow.
