Well John Grey,

Why the ironic comment, we have passed that station a long, long time ago, say from 1997 onwards.
Whatever the browser, it comes now with the same rendering machine,
and is to be used  under the same present day data retention laws...
and will soon have EME (Encrypted Media Extensions) DRM to be used from possibly a unique user InternetID,
pushed by Google, MS and Netfix and going to be implemeted whether W3C likes it or not...
What do you inspect the discussion to be about then, we are discussing browsers!

I highly doubt that this topic was meant to start a piss??g contest
Both are good browsers you choose the one you prefer.
All the current top Browsers are safe to use and we all have our favorites.

"All the current top Browsers are safe to use..."

What is this? An entry to a comedian contest? Google and Micrososft are "safe"?

Could you please explain why microsoft is unsafe please.?
That is a ridiculous thing to say.

That is a good one, congratulations.....

@Arnold72
Was there a reason to repeat John Grey's post ???
Unless you have something to add, simply repeating a post is simply useless information.

WOW thanks for all the replies. I think I found something better than both. Well for me I should say. You all tried Comodo Ice Dragon? Its Fire Fox but faster and safer. I have to say I like it better than Chrome or FF. There is also just Dragon which is Chrome but faster and safer. Check it out.

Using any of these negates  the protection built into avast! when you're browsing on the internet.
You may use what you please, I'll stick with what's safely protected by avast!. :)

You've got it backwards. IceDragon isn't allowing avast access and therefore avast! can't do it's job.

I don't understand bob? Why doesn't it allow avast to do it job? If I don't need to use it I wont.

What bob3160 is saying is also being discussed here:

Consider the avast! Shields technology you miss, and also consider Comodo's inferior virus definitions.
What is tipping the balance for me is clear (the avast! Shields)...but again you are free to decide for yourself,

In order for avast to check your internet activity, you need to use a browsers whos information can be read by avast!.
The IceDragon doesn't permit that. Simple if you use IceDragon you depend on it's ability to protect you on the net without any help from avast!.
I much prefer avast! to anything coming from Comodo. You can make your own choice.
IceDragon is not a browser I would recommend to any one who asks me for advice.

Hi honda2010,

Well the difference is between the Google Chrome where avast av functionality can be installed (web rep, shields etc.) and the Comodo Dragon Ice Comodo fork browser where this is not possible.
Comodo Dragon Ice has beefed up Comodo SSL cert verification (that you can have in Google Chrome also with an added  extension) and the unique identifiers and usage tracking were taken out of Google Chrome, just like with the German iron browser, a Chrome clown to make a more privacy friendly browser concept possible (as Comodo's Chrome variant), which is just partly so because of all sort of scripts and fingerprinting going on under the hood, more security through obscurity as you ask me. For these reasons I launch Google Chrome from Chrome Privacy Guard with almost the same results. There is not much difference with security updates, Comodo's Chrome clown is not far behind official Chrome downloads and patches...

Also see here for proactive security reports: http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge-64/results.php
