Web Shield blocking connections
« on: July 12, 2013, 12:38:20 AM »
Today, Eve Online updated it's launcher for the Mac.
It would not work as long as Web Shield's "Scan secured connections" is enabled.  Without that checkbox, everything is fine.

I checked the forum and there is an earlier problem with Web Shield interfering with updates from various parties, but this was not judged relevant
I have no problems with updates from Apple or any other sources at the moment.
I have no idea of what server to exclude (if that is a possibility) nor do I see a means of identifying servers from a connection.  So for now, I have disabled the above.

It worked fine before the update, but perhaps previously there was no secure connection to scan which seems likely.
Is there a means of identifying what server should be excluded in this case?

If the application does not use the system keychain for retrieving SSL certificates, than avast! is not able to
scan the secured connections. More info on this can be found at http://public.avast.com/~tuma/techinfo/.

To identify the server, you can use a network analyzer like netstat or wireshark.
