Need help with weird graphics and non boot-up of PC

Right, its' the graphics card, ran dxdiag and it found no card attached, took it out (after much whinging from the missus with the amount of dust and metal casing), booted it up and the graphics are back to normal using the onboard graphics.

And guess what, it's also booted up fine.

Now to go out and buy a new graphics card. any suggestions?

What type of slot is it

If it is for just run of the mill graphics, i.e. no intensive gaming or video editing then a SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon HD 6670 PCI-E Graphics Card - 2 GB should suffice.  It is relatively cheap and will stand the test of time
