I can't because I can't connect to the internet. It doesnt recognize my network card. I'm trying to install the driver, but it takes ages. Is the file I've sent completely useless?

What error do you get from windows when you try to access the net ?

Download the attached fix.txt to your desktop
Run OTL and press run fix
OTL will ask for the location of the fix.txt
Navigate to and select the file you downloaded and press run fix again

I did it. It erased avast. I tried to reboot it without the CD, got stcuk at aswRvrt.sys again...

I don't know, when pressed the Fix button he asked me if I want to remove avast, so I thought this was the whole point, so I clicked yes.
I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever be able to turn my machine on again  :-\ ....

There was nothing in the fix to do with Avast

I will replace the userinit now to see if that helps

Download the attached fix.txt as before

Cant i just open the fix.txt and copy paste it into the OTL? Seem to work better that way

You can either do that, which will give you a fresh faster XP or we can repair it.  Repair retains the personal files


Given the choice I would back up the data you need and do a fresh install
