Thin client licensing
« on: November 14, 2006, 04:32:08 PM »
Hello everyone,

We need help to choose the right avast! Suite for our network described below :
- 1 Windows 2000 Server Terminal Server Edition,
- 5 workstations (running Windows 9x and XP),
- 2 notebooks (running Windows XP),
- 10 HP/Compaq thin clients (running Windows CE).

Only Terminal Services and SQL Server are used on our Windows 2000 Server (no mail server, no internet proxy, ...). The notebooks can sometimes access to TS through an IPSec VPN.

The online price calculator tool doesn't mention thin client licensing. Do we have to buy some specific licenses for our thin clients ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Currently, you don't need extra client licenses for TS environment. I.e. a single Server Edition license will cover the whole TS, including any number of terminal sessions..

That is, in your case, you'd enter the following to the calculator:

1 Server Edition
7 workstations (5+2)
and, optionally, 10 PDA licenses - even though I wouldn't say that's necessary...

Thanks
