pc just went nuts

Hi all, anybody any ideas?  pc went nuts, not long after scanning a lot of photos, 3 reboots later it seems a lot better. first AOL  stopped responding, then any program I tried either went so slow or stopped responding all together, then the pictures I put in, didn't show up?? so deleted them all, used Ad-aware, nothing found, used window washer and it said 3.8 gig of space recovered all windows related...can't understand where it found all that space as I use window washer nearly every day....really confused!!!!

Have you used some utility making a slide presentation of pictures? If this is your case, maybe all this photos were in double copy: 1 in your Pictures folder and 1 in the main folder for slidescreen of this (hypothetical) program. (sorry for my english  :-X )

Thank you Kamulko.....yes to the slideshow, did that by mistake, also discovered I saved them as Tif instead of Jpeg, redid them all tonight with no problem... thanks for the information....will know better next time... ;D
