.Cpl file not being detected
« on: July 26, 2013, 04:06:34 PM »
Hello guys,

I received this file some days ago and I have submitted this file to Avast 2 or 3 times already, however this file is still not being detected, despite many other antivirus has been adding this detection lately.

https://www.virustotal.com/pt/file/931d08a2c2ea526ac631a2d03fd8fb916d724b7e0e74bd6e82ef53ad6bb4074a/analysis/1374800638/

Why Avast keep ignoring this file?

Thanks for your time!

Hello,

it can take some time to analyze the file especially for Android, for Windows you have many Tools to analyze Files.
Android are out since last year, before there were almost no viruses for Android. See here: http://blog.gdatasoftware.com/blog/article/mobile-malware-the-barrier-of-the-beast-is-broken.html

And not everything comes in the Database when it would give to many False Positives.

Hello Steven,

Thanks for your reply.

The Cpl file is not related to android, but to the windows control panel.
Its not seems to be a false positive to me, because I receive many files like this by email (pretending to be a bill in my name), and usually avast always detect them as win32:malware-gen .

However this specific file is not being detected. So I was trying to understand why is it happening, specially when other antiviruses started to detect it (In the begin only 12 detected, now 29 are detecting).

Thanks for your time,

I dont understand why it is not beeing detected by Avast.

Maybe they sre still analysing it, you can only wait.
By the way the virus lab sets the prioritys, so maybe they say we analyse it later because it is not so commonly seen like other files.
