Even though the icons aren't showing they do show up in search results.

Go to View/Toolbars/Customize and see if icons are there.

WebRep is there but it's greyed out.  WOT is there and it's green.

Did you put icons on the toolbar (drag and drop) ?
Try to disable/enable Web Rep in Avast settings.
Is Web Rep icon still greyed out ?

Yes, I did that but webrep is still greyed out but WOT is green.   I disabled, then enabled web in Avast settings.

Both are working fine on IE10, Opera and Safari.

Uninstall avast online security (WebRep) from Settings/Browser integration/Firefox.
Enable everything in WebRep & Antiphishing .
Install avast online security again.
Hope this helps.Something similar worked with Pale Moon in my case.

personally I don't chase shadows, there is little value in ever uninstalling (overkill) on issues such as this. It is more likely it is a back-end issue of the webrep rather than an avast installation or webrep 'avast online security'

Does it happen on all sites that you open or just avast as currently on mine it is greyed out on the avast forum, but working fine on other sites. Am I going to do anything about it, no, it is an effort of diminishing returns.

Just leave it, until you have this happen all of the time, in which case it may well be another firefox add-on interaction and that isn't going to be easy to find.
