Does Avast VPN take our anonymity seriously?
« on: July 27, 2013, 06:44:26 PM »

Dear Avast, could you please answer/comment on the following

1. Do you keep ANY logs which would allow you or a 3rd party to match an IP address and a time stamp to a user of your service? If so, exactly what information do you hold?

2. Under what jurisdictions does your company operate and under what exact circumstances will you share the information you hold with a 3rd party?

Thanks: Avast user and potential VPN customer

Let me start with your second question.
Alwill is a company in Tjechiƫ.
So they have to follow the rules/laws that apply there.
Secondly, since they are part of of the European union, they also have to comply to the European laws/rules.
Besides that, there are worldwide laws/agreements etc.

So yes, they must record and save certain "log details".
And yes, they must hand the information to certain official instances when asked.

The real question is why do you want/think you need to use a vpn?

Sorry, I cannot find any way to start a new topic here.  All of a sudden, when I try to type in an url, Avast redirects me to Avast safe search - every time!  I am using Chrome browser on Win XP, and I am not able to find any way to turn off that annoying redirect! Please help.

Off topic here as you've said. There is a button in the top of the individual boards with a "New thread" button.
By the way, there is not an "avast! safe search page". Are you sure it's "avast"?

Does Avast generate logs after scans, and where are they stored on the HD?

Thanks

If you require help, start your own thread.
But before doing so, please (re)search.
