Windows 8.1 update removed Avast from my PC
« on: August 06, 2013, 05:12:46 AM »
I installed windows 8.1 update from the Windows store last night. Today I noticed that my paid version of Avast was gone. The shortcut was still there but the AvastUI.exe file that it pointed to was no where to be found. I even checked to see if it was still listed under Windows Uninstall in the control panel. It was gone!. I then noticed that others are now experiencing this issue on Microsoft's forum. I then attempted to download Avast again from your web site but Windows 8.1 would not let me install the software. Please help. What can be done?

Thanks,

Mark
PS: for others who will want to upgrade to Windows 8.1... be warned that it also disabled Google's search engine when using IE.
