Avast scans forever.. or rather, it doesnt

What are the sensitivity scans set at for the full scan

I tried with High and Normal.
"Use code emulation" is checked, nothing else.

This sounds like a glitch within the Avast programme.  First thing would be to try a repair of Avast

Go to Control Panel > Programmes and Features
Select Avast
On the left will be the option Repair Avast
Select that and reboot on completion
Then retry the scan

now it holds at SVC: wudfsvc > C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe

edit: oh yeah.. I did repair avast before ofc.. I do as I am told

Ah sorry I did not notice that you had allready repaired.   The next phase would be a clean install

Lets reinstall Avast

Download Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast 
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

• Run aswClear
• It will offer to reboot to safe mode .. Accept that

• Once it has rebooted to safe mode
• In the Select Product to Uninstall dropdown choose the version of Avast that is on your system.
  
• Press Uninstall
  
• Once complete reboot your system to Normal Mode
  
• Reinstall Avast

So.. finally got around to reinstall avast as you told me to, and exactly how you told me too.


Scan hangs after 8minutes and 20gb scanned items at: SVC: WwanSvc > C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe

its scanning a service thats run under svchost.exe..
So, maybe there is a problem with the services? I noticed, that there is one svchost.exe instance, that I cant kill via task manager.. that one runs these services:
wudfsvc, UxSms, TrkWks, PcaSvc, netman, HomeGroupLostener, hidserv, cscService, AudioEndpointBuilder

the last one the scan stopped at wasnt one of them, though...

svchost is the workhorse of windows and is used to run a great deal of the basic windows services

bought 2 more years... but problem remains unsolved :-/
btw.. on my notebook everything works fine, there the full scan goes through like a charm.

There is something different about your system, could you try a scan from safe mode and see if that works
