Unable to enable avast! service on Windows 8
« on: August 13, 2013, 05:15:41 AM »
When I go into msconfig and set start-up to enable all services, avast! works. If I choose to disable some services in msconfig but keep avast! enabled, after I restart, avast! is still disabled and the box is unchecked. When I try to change the startup type in "View Local Services" in Windows 8 settings to Automatic or Manual, I get a message that says "Access denied."

Without knowing what services you are trying to disable we can't really comment ???

Also you don't mention what you are trying to change the startup type of, if it is the avast startup you are trying to adjust then avasts self protection will prevent you from doing so.

Access Denied messages are usually due to not having privilege rights which may only be available to System Administrators.
