Slow Loading Google Docs with Avast 8.0.1489
« on: July 24, 2013, 07:07:54 PM »
Slow Loading with Avast of Google Docs, all pages

HP P6-2133W
Windows 8 Pro 64bit with media center
Windows Defender Completely disabled before installed of Avast
Webrep not installed

Any advice or suggestions?

Tested briefly with Windows Defender, works fine with Defender, but i'd prefer using Avast for Protection for better detection and performance

If anyone could offer advice, i'd appreciate it, Might do a Windows 8 Reset if all else fails, and fix it possibly that way or wait til 8.1 is released, then do that

I am using Avast Free with Windows 7 64bit. I have no issues at all loading Google Docs. It also depends upon your internet connection speed. What Chrome Addons do you have that may interfere.

Only using Internet Explorer 10, don't use Chrome here...No other add ons installed, been using IE since version 4.0.   I guess if conflict with Desktop IE 10, I can use Modern version of IE 10 and fix it that way

Possible a conflict with Docs and IE. Try opening Docs under Google Chrome and see what happens. Google Docs is a native app to Google Chrome. You can also use the Chrome App Launcher. It will load Docs without the use of a browser.

Ok will give it a shot, does load fine with Metro/Modern IE 10, so what I need to update on the Google Docs spreadsheet I guess not a big deal really, so i'll wait  on a Reset of Windows 8 til closer to 8.1 if need to do that.

Thank you all so much for the replies, do appreciate it

As far as updating a Doc that's simple. If your using Google Docs that means you have a Google Account. That also means you have Google Drive. When ever you update a Doc it updates via your drive. I do it all the time. Even via the new launcher. Its not actually offline. Just using it without being inside a browser. Try it out.

I think Google docs uses SSL by default, so avast! should completely ignore Google docs.

Spreadsheet loads up half way, to change the titles on the page, then other half doesn't load, on Modern IE 10 works fine, so I guess some plugin conflict with Desktop IE 10 I assume.

Anyways I got a solution now, just use Modern IE to work on it when I need to, (for my Secondlfie game) rental property updates is reason I use Google docs

LibreOffice is also a great free program. Did you try Google Chrome Launcher?

Yes I tried Google Launcher, I got it working now, also run Libreoffice already..For my secondlife game, I have google docs to mark rentals occupied or available is why I needed Google docs to work, it seems fixed now
