Win32:rootkit-gen in Skydrive temp files
« on: September 09, 2013, 02:09:22 PM »
Hi,

Avast has been finding Win32:rootkit-gen in the skydrive temp folder on my PC. I have scanned the PC thoroughly with Avast (including a boot scan), plus Malwarebytes, Sophos rootkit removal and Trend Housecall. Nothing is found in any other files, however Avast and MB both identified the virus in this temp folder. The files are generated frequently (maybe every 15 minutes or so).

Is this a virus or a false positive? I cant understand how just the .tmp files are infected, but the original source files for my Skydrive folder isnt?

if this does not work, follow instructions here   http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0   and attach logs, not copy and paste from OTL and aswMBR
