Yahoo mail
« on: May 10, 2005, 09:45:45 PM »
Can anyone help me please? I can't get into Yahoo mail at all. I enter my username and password and then when I'd expect to see what's in my inbox etc nothing happens. Only a little yellow exclamation mark in the bottom left corner appears, otherwise the page is dead. However when I go to 'view' and 'privacy report' and check and uncheck random boxes then refresh the page my mail appears. But then I can't send or reply mail. It's very odd and annoying.

I have checked my privacy policy and my cookies sensitivity etc. I have Avast 4.6 home and Microsoft AntiSpyware (amoungst others).

Any ideas? This is a pain. Ta.

Did you try disabling only the WebShield provider of avast to see what you get?

Windows XP home, and I just go to yahoo.com, click on the mail link and sign in that way.

Well I've tried to access the page again and the yellow exclamation mark came up in the bottom left hand corner of the screen: so I clicked it and this is what it says:

'Problems with this web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly.

Line: 140
Char: 4
Error: Access is denied
Code: 0
URL: http://uk.f250.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login?.rand=blv9pfolbksn0

........if that lot means a thing?

This is what should be happening:

From your reply, you have something blocking the yahoo website. Check your firewall or any pop-up blockers that you have running
Also check your settings in IE

Yeah that page is the one I'm used to. I've looked at all the things you suggested but nothing happened. When I go to privacy report, click on http://uk.mail.yahoo.com, click on summary, the box currently checked says 'always allow this site to use cookies'. But then I check the box that says 'compare cookies' privacy policies to my settings', uncheck it, re-check the first box, press ok, then press close......then after hitting refresh the page you showed in your post finally comes up.

Sorry if this is annoying you, I have zero P.C knowledge but any ideas are appreciated.
