No protection against LimeWire P2P?
« on: October 01, 2003, 08:30:29 PM »
Hi all,

Using Avast Home Edition build 4.1.268).

The P2P Shield claims to protect me from LimeWire, but this doesn't seem to be happening.  After a download via LimeWire I'd have thought that it would have been scanned by Avast, but it wasn't.  Is it broke or have I misunderstood something?

1. Why do you think it hasn't been scanned?
2. What OS are you using?

Thanks,
Vlk

1) Because Avast tells you what it's scanned, & it isn't scanning any P2P stuff (though it claims it should be)

2) Windows XP Pro

Any P2P or any LimeWire stuff? What version of LimeWire do you have?

Are you refering to the Last Scanned File item for the P2P shield?

LimeWire is the only P2P prog I've used in anger, version is 3.5.8

To your second question, yes.  This remains empty (& counters remain at 0) after a download

Is the LimeWire program you use (the executable file) called limewire.exe?

LimeWire.exe to be exact  :) (not sure if capitalisation is important to Avast)
