Help From Uberists
« on: September 21, 2013, 08:42:51 PM »
i just installed "avast"..

i have been watching the forum the past few days and i noticed that some people had some issues with the "avast" program..

what i am concerned about is the scanning at bootup.. i am afraid that it might cause a problem.. however, i didn't see an option for enabling or disabling the scanning at bootup, though i did see some things related to that in the "troubleshooting" section, in the "settings"..

so, do any of you uberists have any suggestions for managing avast's settings, particularly relating to the scanning at bootup?

i have only booted once since installing the avast program and the logs showed that a scan ran at bootup..

A boot scan will only be performed if you request or Avast advises one

Default settings are the safest, I've not seen any issues with the scan at startup but there have been problems in the past concerning the Boot scan which is a separate option and should really not be run unless avast advises you to do so.

The default settings of avast are the safest and recommended settings to have avast configured too.
OS: Windows 11 64-bit
Webbrowser: Mozilla Firefox
PC Specs: Intel i5-12400f, Nvidia RTX 3050, 16gb ram, 1.5TB SSD(s).
