Why is Avast free so bloated

Nope, it's bloatware. 

That is download size,no bloat lol 

Comodo is bloated.
Could you please explain why the latest update is over 200mb.Thats more than the actual program itself and yet its only an update.And interestingly there are over "200" bugs fixed..
What does this say about version 6.2?

I believe that more than half of that size for the installer be Comodo or Avast! is the virus data base. Comodo download from fileHorse is just over 90 MB and when avast! opens its defs folder, it over 140 MB. I think it is about 70 MB in the installer but I might be wrong. So most of the installer is data and not extra programs to bloat it out.

Back on topic, Im currently using a Dell Latitude D610 XP SP3 with 1gb ram and I have no problems with it but not much is installed on it program wise, just openoffice, avast, adobe reader and thats about it.

Malwarebytes and ccleaner are used often enough as well.

With Comodo it's bloated. When you download CIS it has the firewall, av, dragon browser.
You are correct in that CIS has an in-program white list. Whereas avast uses the cloud, thus
reducing the download/installed software.

I'm also experiencing the 'bloatation' of Avast.

Have been using it for several years now and it has always worked flawlessly.
But the last year or so it has become more and more a bit of a PITA, I'm sad to say.

Whenever I log in to Windows 7 (x64), Avast puts everything else on hold for a couple of minutes.
And the amount of pop-ups from the system tray has increased dramatically with all these commercials for Grimefighter and so on.

Updating virus definitions, especially considering it's incremental and I use my PC (Intel Core  i7 2.67GHz, 16GB, Intel SSD 320) every day with my 100mbps broadband, can't hardly be the only reason for Avast occupating all PC resources for several minutes at every log in.

I really hope that Avast will go back to their old philosophy; small, fast and so smooth that you never notice it.

You've received replies and some suggestions in your other thread. I suggest you check it out and follow some of the suggestions offered.
Knowing what happens on your computer and what programs do what at certain times can quite often clear up a logjam.
